Top 10 DraftKings DFS Plays for NFL Week 9
The Bengals and Falcons play in Madrid on Sunday morning and the Steelers and Titans are on bye, which leaves an 11 game main slate on DraftKings. The 49ers are the team to build around. San Francisco is a 10 point home favorite over Las Vegas with a 30.5 point implied total, the highest of the week, and three of its receivers have been ruled out. That funnels the offense through a few very obvious players. Behind them, Seattle gets a backup quarterback against one of the worst pass defenses in football, and several cheap players have picked up bigger roles because of injuries in Houston, New York and Denver. Below are 10 plays worth building around, broken down by position with the reasoning behind each one.
Quarterback
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers, $6,800 (vs. Las Vegas)
Purdy leads the league in QBR at 79.3 and has scored double digit fantasy points in every game this season. He's been even better at home, averaging 24.2 DraftKings points in four home starts. He's coming off his worst game of the year, a multi interception outing against Atlanta before the bye, but the matchup sets up well for a rebound. Las Vegas allows the fourth most fantasy points to quarterbacks and has given up 18 touchdowns. The 49ers have ruled out Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel and Christian Kirk, so his targets will be concentrated on George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey. Stacking all three is the cleanest way to get exposure to the highest implied total on the board.
Drew Lock, Seattle Seahawks, $4,000 (vs. Arizona)
Lock is the best value at quarterback on the slate. Sam Darnold is out, and Lock was removed from the injury report Friday after practicing on a limited basis all week with an elbow injury that has bothered him since Week 7. When he's played this season, he's been efficient. In about two games in place of Darnold, he's thrown for 422 yards and four touchdowns without an interception, and in Week 2 against this same Arizona defense he went 19 for 26 for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Arizona has allowed 18 passing touchdowns, tied for the most in the league, and the second most fantasy points to quarterbacks. He's targeted Jaxon Smith-Njigba 11 times in each of his two games. At $4,000 he only needs about 12 points to return value, and he frees up enough salary to fit almost anyone else on this list.
Running Back
Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers, $8,000 (vs. Las Vegas)
