Rankings inevitably hit breaking points. Grouping players into tiers allows for a margin of error. We can pair similar player archetypes and generate clusters. But linear rankings demand order. Order generates debate.

Here are the hottest debates in the Dynasty quarterback ranking landscape:

Drake Maye, New England vs Josh Allen, Buffalo

Allen still sits ahead of Maye in multiple different rankings. Reasons may include Allen’s track record as the top fantasy quarterback, the sour taste Maye left in the Super Bowl, or separating Maye from fellow 2024 classmates Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels. Maye pushed Allen for the top quarterback spot, falling just 0.9 PPG behind. There was a separation between Maye (21.1 PPG) and Williams' scoring (19 PPG), and Daniels is coming off an injury season. Perhaps the market wants to see Maye do it again, but a seven-year age difference suggests that when the flip happens, it will be permanent. If two players are scoring similarly, it is worth getting ahead of those differences.

Bo Nix, Denver vs Everybody

There have been six different players with 3,700+ passing yards, 25+ passing touchdowns, 350+ rushing yards, and 4+ rushing touchdowns in either of their first two seasons. Nix is the only player to do it twice.

Across NFL history, just 14 quarterbacks have hit those numbers once. Allen has the most, doing it five times. Only Deshaun Watson and Aaron Rodgers have done it twice, joining Nix.

Nix’s 7,706 passing yards are the eighth most through a player's first two years. His 54 passing touchdowns are the third most. He is one of five players with 7,000+ passing yards and 700+ rushing yards over a player's first two years.

Why are we so hesitant to buy in?

Denver is one of the most talented offenses in the NFL following the offseason trade for Jaylen Waddle. Nix has Top 12 draft capital and has won playoff games. His coach, Sean Payton, is a revered offensive mind.

The Dynasty community usually leaps at the opportunity to push a young player way up the board. Nix has given ample reason to buy in. For whatever reason, few have.
