Updates from Week 4
Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks
The Ravens sat most of their starters through all three preseason games, leaning on joint sessions with the Commanders as the primary evaluation tool after struggling against Minnesota earlier in camp. Baltimore dominated in the third preseason game, and coach Jesse Minter was pleased: "I just love the energy that we started the game with. Proud of these guys, happy the way training camp has gone overall, like where our team's at." Lamar Jackson sounded equally confident heading into the regular season: "I feel like my guys progressed each and every week. We got better, dialing in and building chemistry. I feel like we're in a great place with the offense right now." When asked about his career-low rushing usage in 2025, Jackson noted he was dealing with an injury and reiterated he will do whatever it takes to win. The most compelling story at the position may be Joe Fagnano, an undrafted free agent who earned his way from a tryout to a rookie camp invitation and ultimately onto the initial 53-man roster — a notable achievement on a team that rarely carries three quarterbacks. Minter was effusive: "It started with that first preseason game. He's put it on tape. He's been really consistent. He's played a certain way almost all three games."
Preseason Updates: Running Backs
Derrick Henry has surpassed 28 receptions just once in his 10 seasons, but there are indications that his pass-game role could grow under new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle. The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec hinted there will be more pass-game involvement through camp: "Henry is going to be heavily involved in everything the Ravens do." Doyle reinforced that outlook, saying the vision for Henry in the offense is an immense role: "There are not many guys in the league who can do what he [Henry] does. The vision for him in the offense is an immense role." There is also a broader sentiment that Baltimore will lean on the run early while the roster continues to adjust to Doyle's scheme. At the third running back spot, Zrebiec noted that neither Adam Randall nor Rasheen Ali separated themselves during camp. While Randall was placed on injured reserve designated to return, Ali's special teams contributions will likely give him an edge in determining who will be active on game days after Randall returns.
