Updates from Week 1
Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks
What is there to say about a legendary quarterback entering his 22nd and final season in the NFL? Aaron Rodgers will turn 43 in December, but he's still out there enduring the grind of training camp. To no one's surprise, he's looked sharp in the two-minute drill, with The Athletic's Mike DeFabo calling him "flawless." He shouldn't face a steep learning curve in a new offense, having spent many years in Green Bay with new head coach Mike McCarthy. Mason Rudolph is the next man up as the most experienced of the remaining quarterbacks on the roster. Second-year man Will Howard has shown great arm talent but lacks consistency. Drew Allar is a long-term developmental prospect who won't be a factor this season.
Preseason Updates: Running Backs
As the incumbent starter, Jaylen Warren has been running as the RB1 according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor. He offers the most complete game with his abilities as a runner and in the passing game. Rico Dowdle reunites with McCarthy after several years together in Dallas. That familiarity should lead to plenty of work for Dowdle, who has shown he can produce at a high level when given the opportunity. This looks like a true split backfield as long as both are healthy. It could be frustrating for fantasy owners from a week-to-week standpoint, but Warren should have the slight edge due to his third-down usage. After a disappointing rookie season, Kaleb Johnson has drawn positive reviews in camp.
