Scouting Report

Desmond Reid put together a strong high school career as a dual-threat running back before committing to Western Carolina, an FCS school. Reid paced the team in rushing during his freshman and sophomore seasons before entering the transfer portal and moving to Pittsburgh. In his first year at Pittsburgh, Reid racked up 1,545 scrimmage yards, 15th in the NCAA. His smaller frame has contributed to durability concerns, particularly during his 2025 senior season.

Reid has developed into one of college football’s most exciting players. He's deployed as a traditional back and a receiver, allowing him to get in space and rip off chunk plays. His lower-body quickness allows him to effortlessly juke defenders, and he has the long speed to finish plays in the end zone after making a defender miss. His skills translate to special teams, where he's a dynamic punt returner. Reid will need to shore up his pass blocking at the next level if he wants a full-time role, a concern for many smaller backs. His upside is readily apparent, but the size-related concerns can't be ignored.

Rundown

Reid is an explosive player who can score as a runner, receiver, or returner, but size limitations and injuries could cap his long-term outlook.
