Scouting Report
Kris Hutson was a four-star recruit who ignited a recruiting battle between Oregon and USC. Enrolling in 2020, Hutson found himself in some interesting moments, notably a tense confrontation with then-Oregon coach Mario Cristobal in 2021, when Hutson picked up an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after a big play. Hutson started quickly for the Ducks, becoming a key player in his second season and spending four years in Oregon before moving to Washington State and Arizona for one year each. Hutson ended up in Dan Lanning's doghouse in 2023, earning a suspension and ultimately redshirting as Tez Johnson emerged. Hutson dealt with off-field and maturity issues, a factor in transferring. His time in Washington was spent as a supporting player behind 2025 Day 2 receiver Kyle Williams, though he finished strong, leading Arizona in receiving.
Hutson did his best work as a vertical threat. He worked both inside and outside, though his slight frame generates concerns about physicality. He's a good athlete, but it's his experience and efficient movement that defined his production. Hutson played special teams early in his career, but his size and age likely make it difficult for him to climb above UDFA status.
Rundown
Hutson was a highly regarded recruit who contributed early at Oregon, but maturity concerns and inconsistent usage led to two transfers over a six-year college career.
