Scouting Report
Michael Wortham can do it all. Wortham started his career as a quarterback at Sierra College in 2021, earning JUCO All-American honors by rushing for 845 yards and throwing for 2,180 yards and 18 touchdowns in his second season. He moved to Eastern Washington, where he worked as a gadget player and primary returner alongside current Patriot receiver Efton Chism III in 2023 and 2024. Wortham opted to close his career at Montana, breaking former Titan Marc Mariani's school record with 2,431 all-purpose yards. Wortham was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top player in FCS. He closed his college playing career by turning heads on offense and as a returner at the Shrine Bowl.
The explosive Wortham is dynamic with the ball. His passing ability gives teams pause when he's lined up in the backfield. His quarterback background gives him an advanced understanding of the game, and he transitioned to receiver with enough time to develop. His run-game impact is different from the usual receiver reverse; his time at quarterback has developed his comfort working inside and manipulating defenders. Wortham may not get drafted, but he is a rising star worth watching.
Rundown
Michael Wortham is a dynamic playmaker. He has excelled as a returner, receiver, and running back, and has also played quarterback at the college level. His game may not translate in fantasy football, but he merits attention.
