Dont'e Thornton Jr.

Thornton is a well-built and fast receiver who can win in the vertical game in theory, but hasn't separated well against second-team corners this preseason.

He's exciting the beat reporters and fans in training camp because the vertical game generates the most interest during this phase of off-season football. It's also the lowest-hanging fruit for reporting. 

Until we see reports of Thornton winning intermediate routes against man-to-man coverage, beating top CBs off the line in press coverage, and consistently reading the defense like Geno  Smith, keep the excitement at bay. 

If these skills don't get reported this summer, Thornton will be a boom-bust fantasy option who earns viable weeks when he catches 1-2 deep passes and/or a touchdown and disappears when he doesn't. 

He’s 6’4.5” and 205 pounds and runs a 4.3 40-yard dash. Geno Smith will give Thornton chances down the field, especially off play action, with the defense having to worry about Ashton Jeanty.
