RB coach: 'hard to take' Walker out, Johnson to 'get more opportunities'
Chiefs RB coach DeMarco Murray said Thursday that RB Ken Walker III "likes the ball a lot and I like giving it to him," but acknowledged rookie RB Emmett Johnson will see more work heading into the Week 3 game against the Dolphins. "Obviously, I want Kenneth to get into a groove and, as you guys have seen these first two games, it's hard to kind of take him out," Murray said. "But Emmett's done a great job and he's still learning. He'll continue to get more opportunities. I've just got to pull the trigger and get No. 9 out of there and put No. 10 in there."
Reid: Walker 'wants a ball every play,' but Johnson's role set to grow
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said in his Monday video conference that RB Kenneth Walker III "wants that ball" and "he wants a ball every play... he's not asking to be relieved or anything else," but added that rookie RB Emmett Johnson will "continue to get more snaps" as the season progresses to take some load off Walker.
