The running back position is integral to dynasty success. Whether preferring the workhorse and stud strategy or siding with the weekly search for streaming options, running backs have arguably the biggest weekly swings depending on their high-leverage opportunities, offensive line play, and injuries on the depth chart. Here are the key takeaways and projections for the rest of the season:
Rookie Report
Jeremiyah Love has gotten off to a slow start - similar to Ashton Jeanty last year. Love's Week 3 outburst with 109 total yards, 24 touches, and a touchdown felt like the beginning of a strong stretch of usage and production. Instead, Love has 27 touches for 77 yards in the two games since. The split with Tyler Allgeier is frustrating, especially in games with an overt negative game script, which could be every game for Arizona.
Jadarian Price had promise after his Week 1 debut, but multiple fumbles and a trip to the short-term IR have marred Price in the weeks since. Price might return around or after Zach Charbonnet, and with Emanuel Wilson playing well as the RB1 in their absences, Seattle looks to be one of the more ambiguous depth charts in the NFL. Price is an ideal non-contending trade target if a discount is available from his rookie draft price.
Mike Washington Jr., Emmett Johnson, Seth McGowan, and Kaelon Black all have secured valuable RB2 roles from the outset of their rookie seasons. A reminder: they are all behind entrenched starters, so outside of an extended injury, they are all similar values if a dynasty trade market exists to get a plus on top of switching from one to another.
Jonah Coleman, Kaytron Allen (already switched teams to Miami), Demond Claiborne, Nicholas Singleton, and CJ Donaldson remain in wait-and-see mode for future opportunity expansion.
