Fant's athletic ability is the caliber of a good NFL starter. His route-running and pass-catching are not there. He's a competent operator in zones who can catch wide-open targets and generate yards after the catch, but he's not a match-up threat who generates mismatches against indivudal defenders facing him man-to-man.
The Broncos and Seahawks learned that Fant's best work comes from schematic mismatches that get Fant into open space with the help of misdirection from the offense more than Fant's route-running. Think of him as the Gabe Davis of tight ends but with better hands.
Fant has bye-week value if in an offense where he benefits from a lot of misdirection. New Orleans has those elements but the execution must be good enough with the surrounding talent for Fant to figure prominently even as a bye-week fantasy option.

Oscar Delp could serve as TE3 in NOLA
New Orleans Saints TE Oscar Delp could be the third tight end behind starting TE Juwan Johnson and veteran addition TE Noah Fant, with TE/QB Taysom Hill unsigned, and journeyman TE Foster Moreau gone. 'Obviously he has athleticism. We saw that on film. The physicality I think he plays with will show up as we progress, particularly in pads,' head coach Kellen Moore said. 'That'll be a big part of this thing because from a tight end perspective, that's a deep group now, which is a positive.'
