WR Rashid Shaheed returns to the game
Seahawks WR Rashid Shaheed has returned to Sunday's game against the Commanders after being injured in the fourth quarter.
Nick Emmanwori active for Week 2 vs. Cardinals, making 2026 debut
Seahawks.com reports that safety Nick Emmanwori, who underwent ankle surgery prior to training camp and was listed as questionable, is active for Sunday's Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals, marking his 2026 debut. Also active is receiver Tory Horton, who missed the opener with a hamstring injury and will play for the first time since Week 9 of last season. Seattle will be without quarterback Sam Darnold, safety Ty Okada and right guard Anthony Bradford, all ruled out due to injury; Drew Lock will make his first start for the Seahawks since 2023, Christian Haynes will make his first career start in place of Bradford, and Rodney Thomas II was elevated from the practice squad to fill in for Okada.
Carlton Davis III ruled out with neck injury; Wishnowsky elevated to punt again
Patriots.com reports that New England downgraded starting CB Carlton Davis III to out for Sunday's Week 2 home opener vs. the Steelers due to a neck injury, and elevated P Mitch Wishnowsky from the practice squad for the second straight week with top punter Bryce Baringer still on injured reserve. Davis was initially listed as questionable after sitting out all three practices last week; he had briefly exited the Week 1 loss in the first quarter after making a tackle before returning. The Patriots are expected to replace Davis with third-year CB Charles Woods, with rookies Karon Prunty and Channing Canada also in the mix, while New England did not elevate veteran CB Kindle Vildor from the practice squad. Pittsburgh will also be missing WR Michael Pittman Jr. (foot), who was downgraded to out after being limited on Wednesday and sitting out the final two practices of the week.
Arroyo, Shaheed to have larger roles in new offense
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com expects to see "a lot of two tight ends on the field" for the Seahawks under new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury. He said both AJ Barner and Elijah Arroyo will be "major" parts of the offense. Fowler also said that he expects Rashid Shaheed to be "more of a complete receiver" in the offense this year, and that he should get more targets this season.
