Hockenson should be back to his career best as he spent most of 2024 recovering from an ACL tear. The time he spent last year on the field will only benefit him as he has an inexperienced quarterback who needs him to be his safety blanket. There are chances he could slip in a draft.

Nothing against Hockenson who should be fine, but I'm never hunting tight ends when he comes off the board. Lots of upside wide receivers in his range.

Hockenson's ceiling drops a little and his volatility increases because of the unknown of J.J. McCarthy. Do we get the playmaker who can buy time and in and outside the pocket? Or, do we get the poor decision-maker in the red zone and black zones who is prone to management mistakes and missed coverage adjustments?
Likely a little of both, which caps Hockenson's TD potential this year. It won't be enough to keep him outside TE1 territory, but likely outside the top five.

Very athletic, just 28 years old, and a season removed from a torn ACL. Hockenson is a good player and a solid pick at cost.
Colton Dodgson
He's a downfield threat in his offense. Sure-handed with some ability after the catch. He should help J.J. McCarthy in his first year. Further removed from his knee injury, too.

T.J. Hockenson limps off field
Minnesota Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson (lower body) limped off the practice field Saturday, Aug. 3 due to an apparent lower-body injury. He was unable to return, and he was spotted walking with a noticeable limp. 'I'll be all right,' Hockenson said.
