Welcome to the latest edition of AMA Recap! We'll be summarizing our bi-weekly Discord AMAs, leading up to the 2025 NFL season. This week, Footballguys Analyst Jeff Bell takes a look at how far you should reach on Travis Hunter in IDP leagues, how he evaluates backfields, the dissection of coach speak, and much more!
The Duality of Travis Hunter
bu11dog: How many rounds before ADP should I consider drafting Travis Hunter in IDP (individual defensive position) leagues where he has defensive back eligibility?
Jeff Bell: It all depends on the IDP scoring in your league. I don't expect Hunter to rack up tackles. Interceptions or a pick-six weighing heavily in scoring could bump him there. Mathematically, though, if he's Storm Duck on defense, he would turn Josh Downs into Ladd McConkey.
Backfield Evaluations
scofeelinit: With offensive lines being as in flux as they are at this point in camp, what do you look for when evaluating backfields? How do you separate the smoke of tackle-less football from the fire of preseason gold?
Jeff Bell: There are two main focuses I have when evaluating backfields. First, I'll look at who is getting pass-blocking reps. Second, I like to view it more as a disqualifier than a qualifier. Worry less about the guy you must have and more about the guys you want no part of. We've seen backs we don't think are good become fantasy contributors. Start by making sure you aren't including guys who are dead on arrival.
