As we race toward August, Footballguys.com will examine one team per weekday with our quick-hitting Team Sleepers feature. These players might not be complete busts, but we will be highlighting players our staff thinks will disappoint this year and underperform their average draft position (ADP).

This is a weekday series that will stretch through August 1. If you like this and want another, come back the next workday. Another will be here.

Busts on the New Orleans Saints

Reasons WR Chris Olave Could Be a Bust

  • Meng Song: Olave has suffered four concussions since entering the NFL. Maybe he can get past it, but there are better options in the sixth round.
  • Andy Hicks: It is hard to overlook the repeated concussions for the highly talented receiver. With a rookie quarterback, he is going to get hit. I need to see him remain fit.
  • Hutchinson Brown: Four concussions for Olave since entering the league. Too many good options on the board for me in the 5/6th round of fantasy drafts to be picking him.
  • Jeff Bell: Solely based on injury concerns, and almost all of this offense being priced below bust status.
  • Craig Lakins: I don't believe his current ADP is too high. He's just not someone I'm drafting at all. There are obvious questions around his quarterback situation, but it's his concussion history that scares me away.

Reasons No One Could Be a Bust

  • Jeff Blaylock: The fantasy-relevant players are being drafted about where they should be.
  • Jason Wood: Alvin Kamara is modestly undervalued, Chris Olave is deeply undervalued, and no one else is being drafted as a fantasy starter.
  • Phil Alexander: There are no bad prices in New Orleans, but feel free to ignore anyone here besides Olave and Alvin Kamara.
  • Sigmund Bloom: ADP indicates that the FF hive mind is expecting disaster, so the main pieces are priced well below median expectations.
  • Jeff Haseley: Outside of Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, and Rashid Shaheed, there are not many other fantasy options to consider. All are priced fairly well.

Reasons RB Alvin Kamara Could Be a Bust

  • Maurile Tremblay: ADP demands RB1 output, but age-30 decline plus a rookie signal-caller threaten both efficiency and touchdowns.
  • David Zacharias: If the speedy 30-year-old jukes his way off the age cliff and receives special attention from opposing defenses, he'll struggle to pay off his early-RB2 ADP.
  • Colton Dodgson: An aging back with value tied to receiving volume is a risky proposition at the cost. Moore’s offenses haven’t targeted backs at the same rate historically.

Reasons EDGE Chase Young Could Be a Bust

  • Kyle Bellefeuil: The Saints chose to pay and keep Young in New Orleans, but I’m still wary about a resurgence, even with a new scheme.
  • Tripp Brebner: The pedigree (2020 #2 overall pick and Defensive Rookie of the Year) and new money (3-year $51 million) are fool's gold. Young's 2020 numbers (44 tackles, 7.5 sacks) will likely remain his career highs.

Reason WR Brandin Cooks Could Be a Bust

  • Ben Cummins: He’ll turn 32 years old this season. The offense isn’t even close to being good enough to support a fifth option.
