The 2025 campaign is now in full swing. We will focus on waivers and trades until later in the season, when we will transition to players to stash, buy, and sell for the offseason. In today's "Dynasty News," we will examine some of the week's larger happenings from a dynasty perspective.
Dynasty News: QB Dillon Gabriel, Cleveland Browns
Last week, Adam Schefter broke the news that the Browns were benching Joe Flacco for rookie Dillon Gabriel against the Vikings this past weekend. The rookie played well in his first start. Gabriel was the tenth starting quarterback for Cleveland since the departure of Baker Mayfield.

We must remember that the Cleveland offense is young and there will be growing pains. The Browns want to see what they have in the rookie before the 2026 NFL Draft. The Steelers, Dolphins, and Patriots are up next for Gabriel before the team's bye week.
Dynasty News: RB Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bucky Irving sprained his foot in the Week 5 loss to Philadelphia. He played through the injury but was in a walking boot at last week's practice:
Bucs RB Bucky Irving is dealing with a foot sprain, per source. He was spotted today at practice on crutches and in a walking boot.

There is hope that the injury is not a long-term malady:
Buccaneers do not fear Bucky Irving's foot sprain is a long-term injury, per source. The team considers it a week-to week-injury. https://t.co/F1krIW7QEG

Then, on Friday, Jeremy Fowler indicates Irving will be back soon:
Bucs RB Bucky Irving (foot) is expected to miss Sunday's game vs. Seahawks and is in danger of missing next week vs. 49ers, per source.

This weekend, Adam Schefter had more information on Irving's injuries:
Turns out that Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving's shoulder injury, which he did not report to the team until Tuesday last week, is more of an issue than his sprained foot, per sources. Irving is dealing with a shoulder subluxation that is expected to sideline him at least two weeks.… pic.twitter.com/HMxBrLTQ4E

Expect Rachaad White and Sean Tucker to continue in Irving's stead. Tampa Bay has three more games before the bye (against San Francisco, Detroit, and New Orleans), and we expect Irving to be healthy either after the bye or for the Saints game.
Dynasty News: RB Trey Benson, Arizona Cardinals
The Week 5 loss to Seattle was a costly defeat as Arizona lost starting tailback Trey Benson to injury. Adam Schefter later reported that Benson was headed to injured reserve:
Injury update: Cardinals RB Trey Benson, who is being placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his meniscus and now is expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks, per source. https://t.co/Dtgt3WzxPR

Footballguys injury expert, Adam Hutchison, offered this analysis:
FWIW Benson had arthroscopic procedure on his knee likely for a meniscal issue. Cardinals have a bye in Week 8 meaning Week 10 is the soonest he could return
— Adam Hutchison (@TheRealAdam_H) October 2, 2025
I project him to return at that date. https://t.co/3N9q0YKz4L
Dynasty managers have been trying to ascertain which Cardinals backup to roster. We prefer Emari Demercado to Michael Carter, but the real answer may be none of the above, as the team has struggled to run the ball since James Conner was lost for the season. Demecardo is the better receiver, so he may be a desperation flex option some weeks in PPR leagues. His costly fumble in Sunday's loss may leave Demercado in coach Gannon's doghouse.
Dynasty News: RB Omarion Hampton, Los Angeles Chargers
