NFL teams have recently shifted their focus to a committee approach to defensive line deployment, which has changed how IDP managers draft. Instead of having defensive linemen on each team play a near every-down role, players are deployed as pass-rush/run-down specialists. This opened the door for more potential IDP streaming options.
Being able to stream positions is key to winning leagues. It is impossible to nail down every roster position with studs. You always walk away with one of your position groups feeling thin. This weekly article will cover IDP streaming matchups for the IDL and Edge positions to help you win your leagues.
Week 4 was a bit of a bust for our streaming article, with John Franklin-Myers as our only hit. The other matchups proved to be the correct calls; the deeper players produced. Most of the players featured in this weekly article are IDP streaming options and are generally not among the top 20 at their positions. These players are on waivers or buried on your bench with great matchups. Let's see who has great matchups for IDP streaming in Week 5.
IDP Streaming Option: IDL Maliek Collins, Cleveland Browns
Matchup: Minnesota Vikings - Ranked 9th in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings
Collins as an IDP streaming option may have some recency bias, but the matchup is too good to ignore. Collins did not drop a single stat in the box score over the first two weeks, despite playing over 70% of the team's defensive snaps. He was still disruptive. Collins racked up six pressures in those two games and has 13 on the season. He has also grinded 10 tackles and one-and-a-half sacks over the past two games.
The Browns take on the Vikings in Week 5. The Vikings have allowed the most sacks in the NFL (18). Myles Garrett is dealing with an ankle injury sustained in Week 4 and will not practice today. They are traveling to London for Week 5, so his status will directly affect Collins's output. If Garrett plays, Collins is a near must-start. If he doesn't, Collins will receive more attention, making him a streamer. Either way, Collins is a terrific IDP streaming option for Week 5.
IDP Streaming Option: IDL Calais Campbell, Arizona Cardinals
Matchup: Tennessee Titans - Ranked 24th in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings
Campbell was a weekly IDP starter and defensive interior stud six years ago. Campbell had a couple of down seasons, to his standards, with the Ravens, and it seemed as if it was time to ride off into the sunset. After two productive one-year stints with Atlanta and Miami, Campbell landed in Arizona, where he had spent most of his career. He must be signing with Arizona to retire, right? Wrong, even at 39 years old, Campbell is producing with 14 tackles and three sacks across the first four games.
This Sunday, Calais Campbell will play in career regular season game #266.

That will tie HOFer Julius Peppers for 3rd most in NFL history by a defensive linemen.

The Cardinals challenge the Titans in Week 5, a fantastic matchup for Campbell. The Titans have allowed the second-most sacks in the NFL (17), and their offense looks like a disheveled mess. Look for Campbell to continue bringing the pressure as the ageless wonder is a fantastic IDP streaming option for Week 5.
IDP Streaming Option: Edge Cameron Jordan, New Orleans Saints
