Week 5 delivered another wave of injuries that could reshape fantasy lineups heading into the heart of the season. As always, the details matter: specific injuries, positional demands, and team context all influence recovery expectations. Below is a breakdown of this week’s most impactful injuries and what they mean moving forward.
Key: Position Player, Team | Injury | Projected Return to Play
WR Xavier Worthy, Kansas City | Shoulder/Ankle | Expected Active Monday
On Sunday, we learned that Xavier Worthy would be questionable heading into Monday night after picking up an ankle injury in addition to his lingering shoulder issue. Although the news briefly caused some concern among fantasy managers, KC insider Matt Verderame has suggested that Worthy is expected to play.
I'm told that while the Chiefs have Xavier Worthy listed as questionable (shoulder/ankle), the expectation is he will be okay for MNF against the Jaguars.

We'll see how his body feels tomorrow, but KC is hopeful he'll be able to go.
Upon Worthy’s return, I mentioned that his shoulder injury was unlikely to limit his fantasy production, though it did carry an elevated re-injury risk. A hard fall or direct hit could still send him to the sideline early. The new ankle injury, however, is more likely to affect his on-field performance. While reports around Worthy remain optimistic, fantasy managers should consider having a backup plan in case he’s a late scratch or experiences a setback during warm-ups.
RB Omarion Hampton, Los Angeles Chargers | Ankle | Timeline TBD
Right when he started going in terms of fantasy production this season, Omarion Hampton is not injured with an ankle injury. The rookie RB was spotted leaving the locker room at SoFi Stadium with a boot on his ankle, but this is a common practice used with most foot/ankle injuries.
Omarion Hampton just left the locker room with a walking boot on his left ankle.

Historically, NFL running backs miss anywhere from 0–3 weeks with this type of injury, and more than 65% miss at least one game. While the injury could temporarily slow Hampton down, early reports out of Los Angeles suggest there’s little concern about his long-term outlook.
If it is indeed a standard ankle sprain, I wouldn’t expect a significant dip in his fantasy production once he returns. That said, alternative possibilities, such as a foot fracture or midfoot sprain, would carry a longer recovery timeline, so we’ll need to await an official diagnosis.
Update: The Chargers are really not giving us any specific regarding Hampton's ankle injury. Today LA placed the rookie RB on IR with an ankle injury but did not offer anymore detail. Is this a sprain or poossible bone bruise? It's really hard to say and given the lack of diagnosis, difficult to project a return to play time.
