Murray still has potential to be an elite fantasy receiver, but is he capable? Too many flaws to rely upon but will have big games

Kyler Murray's rushing talent alone makes him a Top-10 candidate every year. Can he stay healthy and be a two-way force as a capable passer/rusher? If so, he will be a great value this year. 

Murray has a high ceiling thanks to his rushing yardage and potential for strong rushing TD totals to pad his passing production. 

Murray told reporters he should have run more last year and intends to do so this year. While that's enticing for fantasy GMs, it's only worthwhile if he's running when he lacks an opportunity to throw. 

The problem with Murray's game is that he's too apt to run or scramble in situations where he could have climbed the pocket and found profoundly efficient answers that allow him to spread the ball around to his receivers.

Go look at Murray's season stats. He has only one season where he has supported more than one starter-tier fantasy option at a time. That's a sobering note. 

Murray is a skilled quarterback in many respects. He's not a good one when it comes to winning football that involves his team, and it may be limiting his fantasy ceiling as he ages.  

Finishing as a per-game Top 12 QB1 in every season of his career, Murray is on a limited list of players with the skillset to finish as the overall position leader. Nearly three full years removed from the ACL injury that impacted his 2022 and 2023 seasons, the team has said they want him to run more in 2025. 

Rushing upside is undeniable. He ranked fourth at the position last year (550 yards). Has two very talented pass catchers in Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr.

The issue for Murray is that we saw a great rushing upside from him early in his career, but recent injuries have stifled that. We saw glimpses of it again last season, and if he starts to run more, there is fantasy value. If he doesn't, he's another backend QB1.

This feels like a make-or-break season for him. His rushing ability makes him appealing, even if he ran at the lowest per-game rate of his career last year. The nature of the offense limits his passing volume. He'll need to run more and limit turnovers to return QB1 value.
