As we race toward August, Footballguys.com will examine one team per weekday with our quick-hitting Team Sleepers feature. These players might not be deep sleepers, but we will be highlighting players our staff thinks will surprise this year and outperform their average draft position (ADP).

This is a weekday series that will stretch through August 1. If you like this and want another, come back the next workday. Another will be here.

Please note that our staff has identified the players listed below. The official Footballguys stance for every Eagle can be found on our projections page.

Sleepers on the Philadelphia Eagles

Reasons RB Will Shipley Could Be a Sleeper

  • Jason Wood: Shipley is RB63, which makes him one of the least expensive handcuffs this year. Yet, his draft pedigree and limited performance to date suggest that he would be a weekly starter if Saquon Barkley were to get hurt.
  • Maurile Tremblay: Now the clear backup and dirt-cheap in drafts, he's one Barkley breather or injury from inheriting high-value touches.
  • Jeff Blaylock: The Eagles' offseason moves reflect confidence in Shipley as their RB2 this season. He's just an injury away from taking on a significant role behind the best offensive line in the league.
  • David Zacharias: Expect Shipley to deliver better than RB6 numbers as Barkley's touches get managed.
  • Zareh Kantzabedian: Will Shipley is a dynamic running back, but he was needed little last year with the way Saquon Barkley performed. Shipley likely won't have standalone value in 2025, but he should still be drafted as a priority handcuff.
  • Julia Papworth: The only real potential value here is backup running back Will Shipley, who drafters have seemed to forget about. A.J. Dillon shouldn't play much of a factor, so I consider Shipley the handcuff to Saquon Barkley, who will get tons of play this season.
  • Andy Hicks: Saquon Barkley had a monster workload last year and year plus one for these guys is often disappointing. Shipley is the clear number two and potentially very valuable.

Reasons TE Dallas Goedert Could Be a Sleeper

  • Sam Wagman: Goedert has plenty to prove after the Eagles, and he agreed on a reworked contract for the veteran to stay in midnight green.
  • Colton Dodgson: When Goedert is on the field, he's typically maintained a top-12 floor at his position. Age and injury history will likely create a window of opportunity for a discount.

Reasons No One Could Be a Sleeper

Phil Alexander: Philadelphia players are appropriately priced. The Will Shipley love makes sense, but you'll have to drop him if Barkley isn't injured before bye weeks begin.

Jeff Haseley: Nobody stands out as a value from this team.

Reason LB Nolan Smith Jr. Could Be a Sleeper

  • Kyle Bellefeuil: Smith took a step in his second season, coming up big when it counted, getting home for four sacks during the playoffs last season. Year three is a pivotal season for young pass rushers, and Smith looks poised to break out

Reason LB Jihaad Campbell Could Be a Sleeper

  • Tripp Brebner: The consensus top off-ball linebacker in the draft went to a team that sought him out in the first round. Campbell has more tools that fit coordinator Vic Fangio's system than the undersized Dean.
