Welcome to Week 5 of the 2025 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
Let's roll...
Matt Waldman: Pick a player who has been producing at a high level who you believe is about to fall through a trap door and fall at least one tier in a 12-team format starting 1-2 QBs, 2-3 RBs, 2-3 WRs, and 1-2 TEs.
WR Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers
Jeff Bell: Keenan Allen is WR16. It is the product of a hot start, scoring touchdowns in the first three weeks. Allen was WR7 through the first three weeks. Without the touchdowns, he is currently WR40 over the last two weeks.
Our rankers have Allen at WR14 for Week 6. The Dolphins present a great matchup. Our Dave Kluge does a great Rest of Season ranks column. Dave has Allen at WR23.
Allen's high water yardage mark for 2025 is 68, in Week 1. His longest play is 29 yards. Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston are playing near 100 percent of the snaps weekly. They are ascending talents who have a lock on every down role.
Allen is closer to 75 percent of the snaps. KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre' Harris are going to continue banging on the door for playing time as the season progresses.
Allen is a great story, and his Chargers reunion is a highlight of 2025. He became the quickest player to hit 1,000 career receptions in Week 6.
As the course correction for McConkey's disappointing fantasy start comes, it is most likely Allen who gives ground. Do we really expect a 33-year-old receiver playing as the third option in the rotation to maintain a WR2 valuation?
