Welcome to Week 5 of the 2025 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
Let's roll...
Matt Waldman: Make your best case for a player that you believe is about to go on a hot streak of starter value above his current tier. Suggestions include, but are not limited to, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Drake London, Kyle Pitts Sr., and Darren Waller.
TE Darren Waller, Miami Dolphins
Andy Hicks: I'll stick with the list and go with Darren Waller. After a couple of top-four fantasy seasons five years ago, Waller missed as many games as he played over the next three years before retiring.
A year off has done wonders for his mental state. Three touchdowns for the Dolphins on only eight receptions, while on a limited snap count, provide a glimpse of what to expect.
With Tyreek Hill lost for the season, Waller becomes the most explosive weapon in Miami's passing game—no apologies to Jaylen Waddle. With full-time play on a team likely to be playing from behind, I'd expect Waller to be a starting fantasy tight end for as long as he stays healthy. That's always a concern with him.
