Patriots at Seahawks: Super Bowl LX Rematch

NFL Showdown can be a fickle beast. Success in these contests doesn't come from blindly following median projections, but from creating leverage and building unique rosters. Fading the most popular plays can be risky, yet the biggest edges usually come from identifying the right low-rostered pivots and pairing them creatively with the slate's juggernauts.

With DraftKings' Captain slot costing 1.5x salary and paying 1.5x points on top of full-PPR scoring, single-game construction rewards stacking correlated pieces from the side of the game you expect to control the scoreboard, while still leaving room to pay down at the utility spots to fit a second high-priced piece.

This article's advice applies mainly to tournament lineups and strategy. For cash builds, median projections remain your best guide. For head-to-head contests, lean into projections as well, but when two players project similarly, side with the lower-rostered option.

Game Scripting & Roster Construction

The NFL has never seen anything quite like this one. The Patriots and Seahawks kick off the 2026 season on a Wednesday night, a first in franchise history for New England, in an instant rematch of Super Bowl LX, which Seattle won 29-13 back in February. It's only the second time the league has ever opened a season on a Wednesday (2012's Cowboys-Giants game, moved for the Democratic National Convention), and it comes with a championship banner unveiling at Lumen Field before kickoff.

Seattle enters as the more complete roster on paper and a short home favorite (around -3 to -3.5, with the total sitting at 44.5). Sam Darnold is coming off a career year that ended in a title, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba just won Offensive Player of the Year with 1,793 receiving yards. The primary loss for the Seahawks was on the ground as Super Bowl MVP Ken Walker III signed with Kansas City in free agency, and presumptive lead back Zach Charbonnet is still working back from the ACL tear he suffered in January's divisional round. That leaves rookie first-rounder Jadarian Price (Notre Dame, 32nd overall) as Seattle's projected early-down back for this one, with Emanuel Wilson and George Holani rounding out the room.

New England, meanwhile, arrives with real motivation after Mike Vrabel's first season took the Patriots from 4-13 to 14-3 and an AFC title. Drake Maye has a new toy in A.J. Brown, added this offseason to pair with Stefon Diggs-style route-running from the slot, and star corner Christian Gonzalez just signed a four-year, $135 million extension that will put him directly across from Smith-Njigba for long stretches of this game. The Patriots' backfield picture is murkier: TreVeyon Henderson has been out with an ankle injury since Aug. 24 and enters as no better than questionable, which points toward a workhorse workload for Rhamondre Stevenson, with newly acquired Corey Kiner as the primary backup.

Given Seattle's status as the betting favorite at home with the more proven receiving corps, expect a lot of the field to overweight Seahawks scoring pieces. Especially Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who is the most expensive player on the board. That said, New England was 8-0 on the road a year ago and has a legitimate top-five scoring offense of its own, and Brown's Patriots debut in a get-back-up-off-the-mat spot is the kind of storyline public builds tend to underrate on a losing team. A 4-2 or 3-3 roster split that leans Seattle without fully abandoning the Patriots' pass-catchers is the likeliest construction to top Wednesday's leaderboards.
