Every week, I gaze into my crystal football to find deep-league and dynasty waiver darlings who could emerge in the coming weeks, so you can acquire them now for practically nothing. I'm looking for players with a plausible path toward playing time for at least a few weeks, but not necessarily this season. I'm only looking for players who are rostered in fewer than one-third of Sleeper dynasty leagues, because players above that threshold are typically already gone in deeper leagues.
Even the deepest rosters don't have unlimited bench space, so look ahead for potential holes as injuries mount and bye weeks take healthy players out of your lineup as you decide whether to take a flier on these potential dynasty stashes.
WR Isaiah Williams, NY Jets (27% Rostered)
Injuries to the Jets' starting receivers are creating opportunities for those further down the depth charts and on practice squads. Adonai Mitchell was inactive Sunday with a finger injury. Omar Cooper Jr. was placed on IR because of a sprained ankle suffered in Week 1. Tim Patrick opened the season on IR with an inguinal groin strain. Arian Smith is out for the season with an ACL injury. All but Smith are expected to return this season. In the meantime, Williams's role has grown.
Williams caught all six targets for 34 yards in Week 2 against the Packers, but he was quiet this week in Detroit, hauling in one of two targets for 21 yards. Williams played more than 82 percent of snaps each of those weeks after playing 60 percent of snaps in Week 1. In training camp, Williams and Cooper battled for the primary slot receiver role. Though Cooper won that competition, Williams earned his spot on the 53-man roster by being one of the Jets' best players in camp. This is his third year as a Jet. Last season, from Week 8 on, Williams converted 36 targets into 26 receptions and 193 yards.
On Sunday, Williams split the slot work with journeyman Sterling Shepard but played snaps as a flanker, even in 11 personnel (one tight end, three wide receivers). This deployment suggests that Williams has earned the coaching staff's trust to play in any open wide receiver position, either as a starter or as the direct backup whenever Wilson, Mitchell, and Cooper are healthy. He also has a role as one of the team's primary kick returners, which increases his value in leagues that award fantasy points for return yardage.
QB Davis Mills, Houston (13% Rostered)
