NFL teams have recently shifted to a committee approach to defensive line deployment, changing how IDP managers draft. Instead of having defensive linemen on each team play a near-every-down role, teams deploy players as pass-rush/run-down specialists. This has opened the door to more IDP streaming options.
Streaming positions is key to winning leagues. You can't nail down every roster position with studs. You'll always walk away with one position group feeling thin. This weekly article will cover IDP streaming matchups for the IDL and Edge positions to help you win your leagues.
We finally hit on some picks in Week 3. Both of our Edge streamers had a productive week. Cameron Thomas finished with two tackles, one for a loss, and a sack. Malcolm Koonce had his second straight big week with three tackles, one for a loss, and a sack. Week 3 gave us good insight into matchups to target. Let's look at the top IDP streaming options for Week 4.
IDP Streaming Option: IDL Gervon Dexter Sr., Atlanta Falcons
Matchup: New Orleans Saints - Ranked 23rd in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings
Dexter must be glowing after joining his former General Manager from Chicago, now in Atlanta. Not only was there comfort, but a four-year, $78 million extension followed. He has provided 14 pressures in the first three games of the season with a 20.5% pressure rate, ranking eighth among defensive interior linemen with at least 50 pass-rush snaps.
Dexter and the Falcons get to take on the Saints in Week 4. They have allowed 10 sacks so far this season, tying for the second-most. Look for his pressure rate to continue to stay hot, making him a great IDP streaming option for Week 4.
IDP Streaming Option: IDL Derrick Harmon, Pittsburgh Steelers
Matchup: Cleveland Browns - Ranked 19th in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings
Harmon has been stealing his teammate Keeanu Benton's thunder this year. Benton was supposed to have a breakout, but Harmon has been turning heads...at least for his pass-rush ability. Harmon has hit the sack column the past two weeks. His 84.3 pass-rush grade, per PFF, ranks 4th out of 126 qualified interior defensive linemen. We won't speak on Harmon's run defense, because we are banking on his ability to rush the passer.
Derrick Harmon is a dude. I've seen dudes, he's a dude.#Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham pic.twitter.com/ioMyOU6vH4

The Browns have allowed nine sacks this season, tied for the third-most. Their star center, Elgton Jenkins, is currently in concussion protocol. This leaves Luke Wypler as a potential backup to block Harmon. If Jenkins plays, Harmon is still a nice IDP streaming option, but if he is out, I am firing up Harmon wherever I can.
IDP Streaming Option: Edge Cameron Thomas, Atlanta Falcons
