Fantasy Football Impact for J.K. Dobbins with the Denver Broncos
In 2025, Dobbins' first year with the Broncos, he led the Broncos in carries (153), rushing yards (772), and runs of at least 10 yards (21).
He did it all in 10 games.
A foot injury suffered on a Thursday night against the Raiders ended his season early.
It was the fourth time in his six-year NFL career that he had failed to play more than 10 games. Dobbins missed the 2021 season because of a torn ACL and played just one game in 2023 after tearing his Achilles tendon.
When he's healthy, however, he's effective.
Dobbins has a career rushing average of 5.2 yards per carry. His 772 yards last year and 905 yards rushing for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 were the most in back-to-back seasons in his career, as were the 13 combined rushing touchdowns over the past two seasons.
His impact was on display in the games he played.
As ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold noted, Dobbins' explosive run total was seven more than the Broncos' next back -- rookie RJ Harvey finished the season with 14 runs of at least 10 yards.
Broncos coach Sean Payton said Dobbins' injury was a significant reason Denver struggled at times down the stretch to find some consistency in the run game.
Dobbins is now poised to continue sharing the backfield with Harvey, and USA Today's John Heath believes Denver isn't done adding at the position. The team declined to place a tender on Jaleel McLaughlin, but he could return for less than the tender cost.
For now, however, expecting a timeshare similar to what we saw last year is reasonable.
Dobbins was RB18, serving as the primary early-down grinder, when his season ended. Harvey, who excelled as the change-of-pace and pass-catching specialist, was RB24 over that 10-game span.
Dobbins typically commanded a snap share of over 50 percent, while Harvey usually played between 25 and 30 percent.
Harvey only took over the lead-back role -- and saw his efficiency metrics dip -- after Dobbins went down.
Expect Harvey's early RB20 Average Draft Position to dip slightly on this news, and for Dobbins RB43 ADP and 11th-round price to rise considerably. Even at that, Dobbins' injury history will likely depress his price more than it should.
Bold fantasy investors could get a great return on investment because of that.
