Jordyn Tyson, New Orleans Saints, Round 1, Pick 8

The Saints selected wide receiver Jordyn Tyson with the 8th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Tyson, an Arizona St. product, now joins a Saints offense that is ascending around second-year quarterback Tyler Shough.

Projected Role in the Saints Offense

Key Takeaways

  • Tyson projects as an immediate starter with the opportunity to push for the team lead in targets.
  • Expected fantasy value: WR3 in redraft leagues, long-term WR1 in Dynasty leagues.
  • Biggest winner: Tyler Shough
  • Biggest loser: Devaughn Vele

Fantasy Football Impact of Tyson on the Saints.

The triangle between Olave, Shough, and Tyson becomes the immediate story.

Shough's portion is easy. The second-year quarterback now has a young receiver tandem with some of the highest upside across the league.

Olave has been in active contract negotiations with the Saints for the last month. No deal is complete yet, and the team potentially bought itself some leverage. The lack of surrounding talent becomes mitigated with Tyson's arrival.

Olave and Tyson complement each other well. Coach Kellen Moore won a Super Bowl with a Philadelphia offense built around DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown. The Saints duo can mirror the Eagles, with Tyson and Olave both capable of winning at all three levels.

The injury concerns around both Tyson and Olave are worth noting. If either struggles with availability, the other is hopefully available to work as the top option.

Tight end Juwan Johnson was the TE12 in 2025. He stands as the most significant loser.

The Fantasy Football Fallout

Olave will face meaningful competition for the team lead role in targets, though this may not occur until 2027.

Vele was on an 80 reception, 1,015-yard pace over the last four games of 2025. His opportunity disappears; he moves into a nominal role as the team's big slot and will likely be a decoy who impacts the game more through blocking.
