Welcome to Week 8 of the 2026 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- Fantasy QB Most Likely to Improve
- Fantasy RB Most Likely to Improve
- Fantasy WR Most Likely to Improve
- Buy-Sell Week 8
Let's roll...
Matt Waldman: Give me the quarterback from the list who you believe is most likely to improve his value in Weeks 8-17.
- QB19 Bo Nix
- QB14 Aaron Rodgers
- QB15 Deshaun Watson
- QB17 Geno Smith
Darin Tietgen: I'll go with Geno Smith here. The Jets do have some tougher opponents on the docket for the remainder of the season, but Smith, being a savvy vet, will still be throwing the ball to an emerging Omar Cooper Jr., Kenyon Sadiq, and I expect Garrett Wilson to start producing more. When facing teams with weaker secondaries, Smith has put up at least 20 fantasy points in each contest. He faces teams like Las Vegas, Buffalo, Miami, and Arizona. Those should all be excellent matchups for the Jets' passing attack.
Ryan Weisse: Bo Nix was the QB7 in each of his first two seasons, and there is no reason to think he has somehow regressed this far. We finally saw a glimpse of his previous form in Week 7, with Nix getting it done both through the air and with his legs.
Nix finished as the QB3 in Week 7, and while he may not have that upside every week, he has a lot more room to grow than the other quarterbacks in this group. Rodgers, Watson, and Smith are streaming options. Nix has shown he is a top-10 fantasy quarterback in each of the last two years and should play closer to that to end the season.
Andy Hicks: This must be Bo Nix. Rodgers, Watson, and Smith are playing at around their expected form. Nix has underperformed but looked significantly better against the Cardinals.
With four top-10 pass defenses on his schedule in the first seven weeks, his opponents get much easier toward the fantasy playoffs. October is when NFL teams figure out what they can fix after the first few weeks, and no one is better at that than Sean Payton.
The Broncos have a 5-2 record and are primed for a deep playoff run. Getting Nix confident in passing will be at the top of Payton's to-do list, and the signs are promising.
