Scouting Report
Curtis Allen drew buzz as a basketball prospect out of high school before committing to football. He spent his first three seasons in a relief role. In 2025, he took over the backfield and exploded onto the national scene. His 2,409 rushing yards broke Danny Woodhead's single-season rushing record for D2 schools. He also led all NCAA divisions with 30 touchdowns, becoming the engine that powered the Panthers' offense. His production earned him the 2025 Harlon Hill Trophy, making him the first student-athlete from Virginia Union, the CIAA, and any HBCU to win college football's D2 player of the year award.
Allen consistently generated chunk plays in college due to elite vision, patience, and power. His years as a backup allowed him to learn the intricacies of blocking schemes, and his best trait is his ability to wait for blocks to develop. His short-area quickness and burst are average, but he's a load once he gets a full head of steam. He regularly ran through linebackers in the second level, delivering punishing blows to anyone in his straight-line path. The competition level is an obvious concern, but Allen's blend of patience, discipline, power, and speed should pique the interest of teams looking for an early-down hammer.
Rundown
Allen's record-breaking 2025 production came against lower-level competition, but his patience, discipline, and downhill power give him a chance to translate into an early-down runner.
