Scouting Report
Kejon Owens is a South Florida native who played high school ball at Miami Central. He played all five years at Florida International after redshirting as a freshman, with his usage steadily increasing each season. He eventually developed into the team's workhorse, setting Florida International's single-season rushing record (1,328) and finishing second all-time in career rushing (2,262). His 1,328 rushing yards in 2025 finished as the tenth-most among all FBS running backs, and his 6.2 yards per attempt were third-best among running backs with 200-plus carries.
Owens is a no-frills runner who wears defenses down. While he doesn't have the flash that will make him more than a Day 3 pick, he executes his role effectively. He is best between the tackles, keeping pads low and accelerating through contact. An obvious lack in lateral agility is offset by strength and contact balance. Speed is a real limiting factor, as he was regularly chased down after hitting the second level. His workhorse profile from a small school is unlikely to translate to the NFL. He brings discipline, effort, and physicality on every snap, but a lack of explosiveness could cap his long-term outlook.
Rundown
Owens is a physical back who works best on inside runs, but a lack of explosiveness will likely keep his touches limited from the workhorse role he was afforded in college.
