Scouting Report
Luke Altmyer is a seasoned veteran of college football. He played both baseball and football in high school and was a four-star quarterback prospect. He committed to Ole Miss, redshirted for a year, then served as the backup for another season. Altmyer transferred to Illinois to be their immediate starter and stayed there for three years. He missed three games in 2023 due to a concussion.
Altmyer was a three-time academic award winner at two different schools and an honorable mention All-Big Ten twice. Altmyer is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get prospect. His arm strength is average to below average for the NFL level. He can read the field when he has time, but struggles when facing pressure. Altmyer was mobile enough to run a little bit in college, but projects as a non-factor in the rushing game at the next level. His best games came against weaker competition, but he was not able to throw with anticipation to open up his receivers against sticky coverage.
Rundown
Altmyer is an experienced college quarterback who can serve as depth in a quarterback room moving forward.
