Scouting Report
Star Thomas had an arduous path through college. He played the 2020 and 2021 seasons at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas before getting an offer from New Mexico State. After two solid years there, Thomas transferred to Duke, where he became the team's lead back in 2024. For the 2025 season, Thomas played at Tennessee, his fourth school in five years. Despite ceding the majority of work to DeSean Bishop at Tennessee, Thomas proved capable of being productive in the SEC, setting him up to be on the draft radar this year.
Thomas is a well-rounded back without any glaring weaknesses. While competent across the board, he lacks any standout physical traits. His speed isn't eye-popping. His lateral quickness isn't noteworthy. He can catch passes, but he isn't a pure pass-catcher. His main strengths are his vision and patience, which allow his blocks to set up before he decisively slashes through them. His path through college demonstrates resilience. Playing in different schemes is a nod to his adaptability. And playing in 51 games over the last four seasons wouldn't be possible without durability. Thomas' versatility is respectable, but it could make it challenging to find a role in the pros.
Rundown
A lack of standout traits could dampen excitement about Thomas, but he's a resilient back who has proven himself capable across multiple systems and schemes.
