Scouting Report

Tanner Koziol tested the waters of the transfer portal a couple of times in college before finding the right fit. He was initially a two-star recruit who played primarily wide receiver in high school. He committed to North Dakota State before flipping to Ball State late in the cycle. In his three years at Ball State, he was a vital part of their offense. However, he entered the transfer portal in 2023, committed to Louisville, then withdrew and returned to Ball State. After the 2024 season, he transferred to Wisconsin but left after 15 practices. He eventually landed at Houston for his senior season, where he served as an intermittent captain.

Koziol is a giant wide receiver who moonlights as a tight end. He struggles to maintain leverage while blocking, but is a more fluid receiver than someone of his size should be. He's a natural hands catcher who uses every inch of his frame to provide a safe target for his quarterback. He has a galloping running style that takes some time to get up to full speed, but can chew up cushions and open space faster than defenders are prepared for. Not overly explosive in and out of cuts, but manipulates defenders with leverage and small head-fakes.

Rundown

Koziol's mismatch-forcing size and blocking limitations will make him highly role-dependent. He could be a fantasy-relevant weapon or struggle to find snaps, depending on his fit.
