Welcome to the Dynasty Trading Post, where we examine optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations every week with real-world completed dynasty trades.
This week, we will look at opportunities in the marketplace with Jalen Hurts and the ever-changing quarterback stock market.
All trades are Superflex unless stated otherwise.
QB Jalen Hurts, Eagles
The Jalen Hurts blood clot situation progressed quickly from Tanner McKee starting in Week 6 to Hurts likely out for the season. Hurts was already in the middle of a disappointing season, both on the NFL side and the fantasy side. Hurts is QB22 in PPG, and his lack of passing progression within the new offensive system in Philadelphia has been concerning. On the dynasty side, Hurts has always had the fallback of being a high-level producer, regardless of the NFL optics of his limitations as a passer and seeing only certain sections of the field.
As with any notable player out for a big chunk of the season, there is a huge opportunity in the dynasty trade market for win-win trades and pairing together contending and non-contending teams. With six weeks of data points, any team at 2-4 or worse should be interested in buying a distressed asset like Hurts, while a contending team (especially 4-2 or better) would be prudent to consider turning Hurts into a more helpful win-now roster addition.
One complexity with Hurts is that he has a non-zero probability of having his career continuation in doubt. Another blood clot or requiring him to be on blood thinners consistently will restrict him from playing in the NFL. The Eagles are also at a prickly spot in their team arc with a 2-4 record, missing their QB1, and appear rudderless on offense without Saquon Barkley (as of finishing Week 6), A.J. Brown (gone to New England), and their offensive line turning from an elite unit during their peak powers to now somewhere in the nebulous middle of the NFL. Hurts has enough dead money that he will be the Eagles' starting quarterback in 2027, unless he retires, but there are more signs than ever that Hurts isn't part of the Eagles' macro future plans.

- Hurts, 28 3rd for Justin Herbert
- Hurts, Kyle Monangai for Dak Prescott, Tony Pollard
- Hurts, Emeka Egbuka for Joe Burrow
- Hurts, 27 2nd for Jayden Daniels
The theme when buying Jalen Hurts at this tenuous moment is getting a true discount. Offer a solution at quarterback or a collection of helpful options, but not a true foundational dynasty piece. The best of the "buying Hurts" section is giving up Egbuka or Tyler Shough as the central piece. Acknowledge taking on a risky endeavor in Hurts with your offers this week.
The theme when selling Jalen Hurts is seeking shelter and safety at quarterback. Mahomes, Prescott, and Burrow all offer that. Daniels and Herbert have their own risk, but less compared to Jalen Hurts. As a contender and selling Hurts, be open and receptive to using your own later 1st to find these profile and production upgrades with the fantasy regular season close to half complete.
