The ankle injury to Ashton Jeanty moves Washington up the ranks. He has already impressed in the preseason and would become a weekly starter while Jeanty recovers. Realistically, Washington could be a fantasy starter in Weeks 1-4 at minimum.

Washington's preseason has been filled with explosive plays, and the Raiders are woefully thin behind him at running back. Ashton Jeanty's ankle injury opens the door for a startable week or two to open the season.

Washington looks the part as a bell cow running back, but he must learn to run with his pads more effectively and with greater consistency. Washington also fumbled the ball at a rate in college that makes him a potential liability.
If Washington can improve in these two areas, he could push for playing time as a committee option, and eventually, emerge as a starter with the size/speed to wreak havoc on opposing defenses.
Ashton Jeanty's knee injury in practice could help Washington make an immediate contribution. While the preseason highlights look good, we've seen this story before with Clyde Edwards Helaire and several others. Washington's liabilities could lead to the Raiders considering other options if Washington's issues crop up early.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Mike Washington Jr. is going to "be a weapon in Las Vegas." Even after Ashton Jeanty returns from his sprained ankle, Rapoport said Washington will "be a thing this year. Not just in real football, but in fantasy football."
