Sam LaPorta 'disappointing' no extension, says he'll 'get paid somewhere else'
Lions TE Sam LaPorta voiced frustration about not getting a contract extension in an appearance on Pardon My Take. "It's disappointing that you go out there every week and bear the risk of getting hurt. Like last year, I broke my f--ing back for the team. And then I'm going out there this year and I'm balling, and maybe they're just not showing the love," LaPorta said. He added that "in three months, if I don't get to wear the Honolulu blue and play for the Lions anymore, it's going to be all good. I'll go get paid somewhere else."
Dan Campbell on stalled LaPorta contract talks: 'last thing on my mind'
Lions head coach Dan Campbell downplayed the report that TE Sam LaPorta and the team have broken off contract talks, saying on Wednesday it is not a big issue. "That's the last thing on my mind right now," Campbell said. "There's always gonna be two sides, and you work through these things... I love LaPorta. We love LaPorta. He's a heck of a football player and I thought he played his best game the other day." LaPorta, who is in the final year of his rookie contract, is averaging career highs in catches per game (5.5) and yards per game (57.0) through four games this season.

Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta caught 8 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown on 13 targets in Sunday's 32-26 loss to the Carolina Panthers. He was projected for 9.6 fantasy points (half-PPR) and finished with 18.4.
Lions, Sam LaPorta break off contract talks after several weeks
The Lions and TE Sam LaPorta have broken off contract talks after attempting to work out a long-term deal over the first few weeks of the season, sources told NFL Network. A deal did not come together as hoped, and as of now LaPorta will be a free agent in 2027.
