The silliest game we can play in fantasy is "If you remove this game." The game happened. The player can deliver performances at that level. That said, Hockenson had two of the biggest three games by a tight end in 2022. His 39.9 PPR points in Week 4 and 35.9 points in Week 16 represented 35% of his total points for the season. To add context, there were eight games total where tight ends exceeded 30 PPR points in the 2022 season.

Without those two games, Hockenson drops to a very pedestrian 9.2 PPR points per game.

Hockenson is very, very good. He has the ceiling to deliver as a weekly top tight end option, especially in a landscape shrouded in uncertainty deeper into the position. But dynasty sells are not always "get out of this situation immediately". You need to give to get. Hockenson represents an opportunity to pivot off a player on the fringe of being an elite asset, move to similar production in a lower tier, and roll into an upgrade at a different position.

That said, there is a downside to Hockenson. The team spent a first-round pick on Jordan Addison and looked to have locked down their top two receiving options long-term with Jefferson and Addison. The biggest question around the Vikings is the long-term answer at quarterback. There were whispers around the draft that the Vikings were frustrated with Kirk Cousins. It is getting late early on this core, as the Vikings already showed in moving on from Dalvin Cook.
