It's time in dynasty leagues again to start stocking your bench with players who could pay off for you next season if you are not in the playoffs. Even in leagues with toilet bowls where you can improve your draft position, even win the #1 pick, you can afford to cut most of your depth players for players with future growth potential. For the next four weeks, I'll give you some players at each position to stash. Dynasty league roster and league sizes range from shallow to deep, so I'll break the lists in Snorkel, Scuba, and Submarine tiers to fit everyone's needs.
- Snorkel-level players are available in some leagues, especially ones with more shallow rosters.
- Scuba-level players are usually available unless your league has very deep rosters.
- Submarine-level players are often widely available, even in leagues with deep rosters.
This week is quarterback, which is a much more fun position to prospect with the advent of superflex leagues.
Snorkel
Mac Jones (QB-SF) - Jones getting a starting job next year could not be more telegraphed. Getting brought in to compete (cough, start) against JJ McCarthy for the Vikings is in the realm of possibilities. Jones was even useful in 1QB leagues this year. He shouldn't be on the waiver wire in superflex dynasty leagues.
Malik Willis (QB-GB) - Willis has looked like a different quarterback in Matt LaFleur's offense. He is going into free agency and could get a chance to compete for a starting job. Willis has rushing upside and has been an efficient passer in limited duty with Green Bay.
Jalen Milroe (QB-SEA) - Milroe getting a chance to play in Seattle because Sam Darnold was a one-year wonder is off the table now, but that doesn't mean Milroe isn't worth stashing. He is a very talented runner and still offers at worst a Justin Fields fantasy profile if he ever gets a shot. That's worth carrying in 2QB/Superflex for sure, and maybe even in deeper 1QB leagues.
Anthony Richardson Sr. (QB-IND) - Daniel Jones is a free agent next year, and there's talk that the Vikings could be interested in him, too. Richardson is done as the anointed starter, but he could be competing against whoever the Colts can bring in via free agency. Is Richardson Trey Lance - just a bust - or is he more of a Mayfield/Jones/Darnold type who can hit later in his career in the right spot? His upside is too high to drop, even if you think the probability of the second possibility is small.
Jameis Winston (QB-NYG) - Who has been more fun to watch this season than Winston? Surely the rest of the league has to have taken note of how he invigorated the team and fans, and that should get him a look from teams that unsuccessfully try to trade for Mac Jones. Winston is under contract next year, but even if he stays with the Giants, we've seen that Jaxson Dart is reckless and that Winston can be a fantasy QB1 without Malik Nabers. What can he do with Nabers? Maybe we will get to see next season.
