Updates from Week 2
Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks
With little to prove, Jordan Love played just two series in the preseason opener. Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich has discussed the possibility of Love running more in 2025, and Love agrees. “I think every game [in 2024] there was a couple options or instances where I could’ve took off and run,” Love said. “…Just understanding that maybe sometimes maybe not go straight to the check down right now. Maybe take that extra second to find a lane and get out of there and create an opportunity with your legs.” At 6-foot-4 and with four rushing touchdowns in 2023, his size and mobility could be a red-zone asset.
Preseason Updates: Running Backs
Josh Jacobs is healthy and leading the way after handling 67% of the Packers’ touches last season. Emanuel Wilson’s recent knee injury, a “dodged bullet,” per head coach Matt LaFleur, appears minor and he remains set as Jacobs’ backup after averaging 4.9 yards per carry in 2024. MarShawn Lloyd’s camp groin injury is the latest in a string of lower-body issues that have kept him off the field, and he appears to be behind Chris Brooks, who has been working as Jacobs’ caddy with the first team. In the preseason opener, undrafted rookie Amar Johnson turned heads with 67 late-game yards, including an impressive long touchdown.
