How Long Can You Wait on Quarterback in a Dynasty Superflex Startup?

Jeff Bell navigates a Dynasty Superflex Startup quarterback punt strategy.

Jeff Bell's How Long Can You Wait on Quarterback in a Dynasty Superflex Startup? Jeff Bell Published 07/02/2026

"How long can you wait on a quarterback in a Superflex startup?"

The prompt reads like a dare.

"You can definitely drink a full gallon of milk!" or "I'm sure that pepper is not THAT hot!"

I have three young children. My life revolves around making the best of situations. I have successfully stared down a claw machine while two of the three have a prize. We can do this!

We have one of the best tools in the industry in the new Dynasty Trade Value Chart+, designed by Dan Hindery. The tool includes Sleeper Superflex Startup ADP, our guide for this exercise.

I am not going to tell you to build a team around Cole Payton, Tyson Bagent, and Will Levis. For practical reasons, this group will be our main target:

If you are anything like me, your brain will start categorizing this group instantly. There are three main themes:

  1. The Questions
  2. The Battles
  3. The Olds

Sam Darnold is included in the photo to provide reference. The reigning Super Bowl champion, at 29, is about as close to locked in as a starter for the foreseeable future, which creates a divide. The players above him carry fantasy ceiling and job security, a key for projecting Dynasty value. Kyler Murray lands eight picks after Darnold. Murray's ADP of 96th would be the 8.12 in a 12-team league. Starting 10 players is a standard setting in Superflex. It is an extremely convenient mark in this exercise, as the quarterback punt approach will allow you to fill a starting lineup before hitting the position.

We will look at each category in depth, identifying ideal targets and strategies.

One of my strongest beliefs in team building revolves around telling a cohesive story. Given the intentions of this exercise, much of that story will be told before quarterback selections start. Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins may not be the best plays on a team loaded with rookies. Conversely, Ty Simpson may not make much sense on a veteran team that intends to win immediately.

Apologies to Les Snead.

The Questions

Key Players (with ADP)

Ideal Build: Flexible

With the exception of Murray (we will get to him), this group holds the most upside.

Jones was the QB7 in 2025 before his Week 14 injury. Willis has the dual-threat skill set we crave in fantasy quarterbacks. Young is three years removed from going first overall in the 2023 draft. Simpson just landed in one of the NFL's best offensive environments. Jones is the current favorite to land as a bridge starter in 2027, when his contract allows free agency.

ADP allows the opportunity for three of these players.

Flexibility is the highlight of this group. A team built to win now can take Jones and Willis, leaning into games designed for fantasy production. A productive struggle, designed around young players and securing early draft capital in the initial rookie drafts, can take a shot at Young solidifying himself and wait on Simpson.

This group opens an opportunity the other two do not: the chance to tier up. The first three quarterbacks lack meaningful competition for their jobs. They are in an ideal age band. Trading for a quarterback in Superflex is much easier if your leaguemate is not forced into positional scarcity.
