Bo Nix remains one of the most divisive quarterbacks in fantasy football. His detractors point to an offseason broken ankle, a drop in efficiency metrics in Year 2, and label him a glorified "system quarterback." His supporters counter with back-to-back QB8 overall finishes, an elite offensive line, and the marquee offseason acquisition of wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.

The reality? Both sides are right. But with Nix currently coming off the board as the QB15 despite that top-eight baseline, the market has overcorrected, making him one of the most compelling middle-round quarterback targets on the board.

The Case for Caution

1. The Ankle Injury

Nix broke his ankle late in Denver's playoff victory over the Buffalo Bills, forcing him to miss the AFC Championship game and undergo two surgical procedures this offseason. While a broken bone isn't inherently a long-term chronic risk, history warrants attention: Nix has now sustained separate ankle injuries in high school, college, and the pros. Because his mobility is vital to how he executes Sean Payton's offense, any lower-body setback carries fantasy weight. Fortunately, medical reports throughout the summer have been clean, and he is fully expected to participate without limitation in the preseason.

2. The Advanced Metrics Don't Trust Him

At Footballguys, we advocate for a holistic process—one that blends historical baseline data with tape evaluation. Looking at Nix through that hybrid lens yields a fascinating dichotomy. While his surface-level fantasy output is undeniable (back-to-back QB8 finishes), his underlying efficiency profile paints the picture of a bottom-quartile passer.
