The NFL preseason delivered running-back injuries, depth-chart adjustments, and clarity on the 32 teams. Here is a summary of the fantasy-relevant running back results coming out of the 2026 NFL preseason.

Week 1 Starting Injuries to Monitor

Jeremiyah Love, Cardinals

Arizona quizzically gave Love 12 touches in his preseason debut. The result? An ankle injury that may keep him out for Week 1. Unless the practice reports for Week 1 begin, Love's status is up in the air. James Conner is also dinged up on Arizona's depth chart, and Trey Benson was hurt before the team waived the former Round 3 pick. Tyler Allgeier is potentially a quality streaming option out of the gate.

Chuba Hubbard, Panthers

A hamstring injury has shelved Hubbard in August. Reports are that he should be good to go for Week 1. If not, Jonathon Brooks has been a healthy surprise coming off of two knee surgeries and having barely played in his two years since Carolina drafted him in Round 2.

Breece Hall, Jets

A groin injury has left Hall's Week 1 status in doubt. Braelon Allen looked healthy in his preseason ramp-up following a 2025 injury, making him the most likely benefactor over Isaiah Davis early in the season.

Ashton Jeanty, Raiders

The initial reaction was one of dread with Jeanty exiting practice. However, the storm has calmed, somewhat, with an ankle injury being the most recent report. Jeanty is still a question mark for Week 1 (and even beyond the first game), but the fear of missing most or the entire season is off the table as of now. Mike Washington Jr. has looked impressive in the preseason and would step into the lead role if Jeanty misses time.
