DraftKings Bargain Buys: Week 15

Footballguys Staff's DraftKings Bargain Buys: Week 15 Footballguys Staff Published 12/13/2014

Last week was a prime example of why more and more people are turning to DFS. If you were in a seasonal league and started Brian Hoyer, Kyle Rudolph or the Titans defense your season is probably over. With DFS, it's just a set back and you're still in the game. As bad as those three plays were, it wasn't a bad week at all for the Bargain Buys. More than half of our picks met value Andre Williams and Jonathan Stewart provided phenomenal value at running back. The pricing is a little softer in Week 15, so let's see where the best value lies. The Value Play at each position is based off of the projections of David Dodds, while the Bargain Buy is my personal recommendation. You don't want a roster full of these guys, but using 1-2 of them could help you win your GPP.

Quarterback

Value Play

Kyle Orton ($5500) vs. Green Bay- The formula for this selection is pretty simple. Orton figures to be chasing the scoreboard and he's extremely underpriced. It's almost as if DraftKings is pricing him based on what they think his actual skill level is and not his statistical potential. Orton is one of the few quarterbacks with 5x value potential this week

Bargain Buy

Blake Bortles ($5200) vs. Baltimore- Bortles floor against this secondary feels like right around 3x value. That's an excellent floor to have when you consider his ceiling is elevated by the mystery secondary the Ravens put on the field. Bortles has been a disappointment for much of his rookie year but he could take a big step forward against this defense, and down the stretch.

Running Back

Value Play

Jeremy Hill ($4300) vs. Cleveland- I like all four running backs from this game okay, but Hill is probably the best value if you're looking for a decent floor too. He's outperformed Giovani Bernard since Bernard has returned and the Browns run defense isn't exactly a stalwart. Hill is the most likely back in this game to score a touchdown, and that's never a bad thing to bet on.

Bargain Buy

Terrance West ($3000) vs. Cincinnati- While Isaiah Crowell has gotten a lot of the hype in Cleveland (and the price raise), West is still seeing plenty of action. He had 15 carries last week and is still the most likely back to get involved in the passing game. I expect to see a lot of both Browns running backs as the team tries to ease Johnny Manziel into his first start.

Wide Receiver

Value Play

Marquess Wilson ($3000) vs. New Orleans- With Brandon Marshall out, the talented Marquess Wilson figures to be the team's new WR2. This Saints defense has been abused on the ground and through the air and Wilson will be the least of their concerns. When a bad defense largely ignores a player, that's a great opportunity for value...especially at the lowest possible price.

Bargain Buy

Andre Holmes ($3000) vs. Kansas City-Holmes put up 10.5 DraftKings fantasy points in his last match up with Kansas City and that was with a bad game script. The Chiefs are (barely) still in playoff contention and will have revenge on their minds when Oakland comes to town. I expect a strong start from Kansas City, which leads to a lot of Derek Carr passes in the second half.

Tight End

Value Play

Larry Donnell ($3800) vs. Washington- Donnell is featured in both articles this week largely because of his low price. He's followed an interesting pattern of ups and downs this year, but seemingly every time his price has dropped way down he's responded with a touchdown or a big game. He had three scores against Washington in Week 4 and you have to expect Eli Manning will go back to him in the red zone this week.

Bargain Buy

Kyle Rudolph ($3000) vs. Detroit- With Rudolph you're essentially hoping for a touchdown every time you play him because he isn't getting the volume we expected. There's reason to think he'll see an uptick in volume this week though. The Vikings have virtually no chance to run the ball against Detroit and their receivers outside of Charles Johnson have been less than impressive. Rudolph is a contrarian GPP play, not a cash games play.

Defense

Carolina Panthers ($2600) vs. Tampa Bay- The Panthers defense has been much maligned but they've got a great match up in Week 15.Josh McCown has thrown five interceptions in his last three games and the Buccaneers running game is a mess. This is a rare contest that could be both low scoring and have the opportunity for a couple of huge defensive plays by the Panthers.
