Salary Cap Leagues, Overpriced Quarterbacks

Footballguys Staff's Salary Cap Leagues, Overpriced Quarterbacks Footballguys Staff Published 07/30/2023

Taking the temperature of the fantasy community is extremely important when trying to anticipate prices in your salary cap room. A lack of buzz, or on the flip side, a runaway positive narrative, can often take hold and lead to large price inequities in some draft rooms. We asked our staff for names to capitalize on when nominating players.

Name a quarterback who is a good candidate to nominate when you want to waste maximum cap space on a guy you have little interest in.

Jeff Bell: Geno Smith, given the buzz around the addition of Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Aaron Rodgers, given name value and landing in a large market.

Dan Hindery: Dak Prescott. I want rushing upside in my quarterback, and Prescott has not run the ball hardly at all in the last few years.

Ben Cummins: This is less about having little interest in a guy and more about nominating an elite quarterback early on in order to get someone to overspend. I’ll throw out Josh Allen, as he’s my third-ranked quarterback. I prefer both Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes II.
