There's a lot of strong dynasty analysis out there, especially when compared to five or ten years ago. But most of it is so dang practical— Player X is undervalued, Player Y's workload is troubling, the market at this position is irrational, and take this specific action to win your league. Dynasty, in Theory is meant as a corrective, offering insights and takeaways into the strategic and structural nature of the game that might not lead to an immediate benefit but which should help us become better players over time.
Fantasy Football is Weird
Week 11 of the 2024 season was a really weird week.
Anthony Richardson Sr. scored nearly as many points (30.1) as Patrick Mahomes II (15.8) and Lamar Jackson (14.9) combined. Jayden Daniels-- in the middle of a sensational rookie season-- ranked 24th, but Washington offset this by placing two running backs in the Top 15 at the position, instead. A pair of Cleveland receivers (Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore) also finished in the Top 15, as Jameis Winston continued chucking the ball down the field for the Browns.
Jauan Jennings was the #7 fantasy receiver, while Nick Westbrook-Ikhine continued racking up touchdowns while barely touching the football, catching two passes but still finishing with 117 yards and a score (the only time all season he'd top 70 receiving yards in a game).
Also, the top tight end of the week was Taysom Hill, who set career highs in rushing yards (138) and receptions (8) while tying his best mark in touchdowns (3), leading all players in fantasy points.
The only normal thing about Week 11 of 2024 was how weird it was. You see, there's nothing special about that week— I chose it at random. I knew without looking that a lot of weird things happened that week, because a lot of weird things happen every week.
