Welcome to the Dynasty Trading Post, where we examine optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations every week, providing examples and completed dynasty trades.
This week, we'll focus on league-winning candidates at each skill position:
*All trades are Superflex unless stated otherwise*
QB Lamar Jackson, Baltimore
Lamar Jackson is having his worst season in a while by underlying metrics, and his rushing is at a low point. Jackson is averaging 5.8 yards per rushing attempt and 32 yards per game on the ground. Both are his lowest marks since 2018, his first year as a starter. That said, the schedule is pristine for Jackson to bounce back down the stretch. Until Green Bay in Week 17, the strength of schedule is all positive, including cornerstone matchups against Cincinnati in Week 13 and Week 15.
Here are a few key trades involving Lamar Jackson this week:
- Buy Jackson, 26 3rd for Bo Nix, 26 1st
- Buy Jackson, 26 2nd for Jayden Daniels, 26 1st
- Buy Jackson for Jaxson Dart, 26 1st
- Buy Jackson for Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze
These are classic examples of why to generally reserve 1st round rookie picks in Superflex for upgrading at quarterback. These are significant trade greasers to finalize deals from the zone of Bo Nix and Jaxson Dart, as mentioned examples. When an elite quarterback sustains an injury or endures a sluggish production stretch, pounce in the trading market. It is historically difficult to finalize a deal without another quarterback and, secondarily, high rookie picks, involved in the trade.
RB Omarion Hampton, LA Chargers
