The Buccaneers at Lions game is clearly the better fantasy game on this two-game slate. The Over/Under in this game is 11 points higher than in the other contest. Jared Goff gets to play at home in this favorable fantasy environment against a Buccaneers defense that ranks just 22nd in Dropback EPA Allowed. Goff leads a Lions offense that ranks fourth in EPA/Play, and he ranks second in pass touchdowns per game (2.3).
Baker Mayfield has arguably been the league MVP through the first six weeks of the season. He ranks sixth in passing yards per game (256.5) and fourth in pass touchdowns per game (2) and leads a Buccaneers offense that ranks eighth in EPA/Play. Mayfield has continued balling despite injuries all over his offensive line and receiving corps, and he should be expected to continue doing so in this awesome fantasy game against a Lions defense that ranks just 18th in Dropback EPA Allowed. Detroit will be without Safety Brian Branch due to his one-game suspension for hitting JuJu Smith-Schuster after last week's game and multiple starting cornerbacks due to injury.
Sam Darnold is also in the MVP conversation. He ranks fifth in passing yards per game (256.8) and ninth in pass touchdowns per game (1.8) and leads a Seahawks offense that ranks seventh in EPA/Play. Darnold has a tougher matchup on paper against a Texans defense that ranks seventh best in both EPA/Play Allowed and Dropback EPA Allowed, but Houston's defense also has a tough projected matchup against this Seahawks offense. Darnold is a leverage play in tournaments.
