Disclaimer
NFL Showdown can be a fickle beast. Success in these contests doesn't come from blindly following median projections, but from creating leverage and building unique rosters. Fading the most popular plays can be risky, yet the biggest edges usually come from identifying the right low-rostered pivots and pairing them creatively with the slate's juggernauts.
With both DraftKings and FanDuel now using similar formats — a multiplier slot (Captain/MVP) that costs 1.5x salary and earns 1.5x points — the nuances between sites come down to scoring systems and contest dynamics. DraftKings' full PPR scoring and larger prize pools reward a slightly different decision-making process than FanDuel's half-PPR and softer fields, but the core principles of Showdown roster construction apply across both.
The advice in this article pertains predominantly to tournament lineups and strategy. For cash builds, median projections remain your best guide. For head-to-head contests, consider projections as well, but when two players have similar projections, side with the lower-rostered option.

Quarterback
Matthew Stafford - Captain/Flex
Matthew Stafford won MVP last season, ranking second in passing yards per game (278) and first in passing touchdowns per game (2.6). This year, he ranks fourth in passing yards per game (297.3) but just 13th in total passing touchdowns (6). Stafford continues to sling it, and with Puka Nacua back in the lineup, his passing touchdowns could increase quickly. This is a favorable spot for Stafford at home against a Bills defense that ranks 21st in EPA/Play Allowed and 20th in Dropback EPA Allowed.
Running Back/Wide Receiver/Tight End
Puka Nacua - Captain/Flex
Puka Nacua returned and eased concerns regarding his health in Week 4. He had a 90.7% route rate, saw 12 targets, caught nine passes, racked up 125 receiving yards, and scored a rushing touchdown. Last season, Nacua ranked second in targets per game (10.3), first in receptions per game (7.9), first in receiving yards per game (109.3), and first in yards per route run (3.85). In a competitive game and favorable matchup, don't make a single lineup without Nacua.
Kyren Williams - Captain/Flex
Kyren Williams ranks at the running back position through four weeks: 12th in opportunities per game (19.8), eighth in total yards per game (116.8), 11th in total touchdowns (4), ninth in RB snap share (68.8%), 22nd in RB rush attempt share (51.4%), seventh in route rate (55.7%), sixth in target share (15.2%), and second in targets (25). Williams continues to split rushing work with Blake Corum. However, his receiving usage has spiked. His career target shares are: 5% in 2022, 10.7% in 2023, 7.3% in 2024, and 7.9% in 2025. His 15.2% so far this year is by far a career high. Williams just caught 10 of 13 targets last week. Those 13 targets and 10 receptions are both career highs. He'll be needed in this projected shootout.
Davante Adams - Flex
Davante Adams in weeks 2 and 3 without Nacua:
🔹Targets per game: 11.5
🔹Target Share: 26.7%
🔹Receiving yards per game: 166
🔹Team Rec yard share: 46.3%
🔹YPRR: 4.49
🔹Air Yard Share: 49.2%
Davante Adams in weeks 1 and 4 with Nacua:
🔹Targets per game: 7.5
🔹Target Share: 19%
🔹Receiving yards per game: 29
🔹Team Rec yard share: 12%
🔹YPRR: 0.81
🔹Air Yard Share: 30.8%
With Nacua in the lineup this season, Adams' production has dipped drastically:
🔹Targets per game: 🔻-4
🔹Target Share: 🔻-7.7%
🔹Receiving yards per game: 🔻-137
🔹Team Rec yard share: 🔻-34.3%
🔹YPRR: 🔻-3.68
🔹Air Yard Share: 🔻-18.4%
Still, Adams has an 86.7% route rate in the two games with Nacua on the field. He's a solid flex play in this projected shootout.
Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson - Flexes
Colby Parkinson returns to the lineup after a one-week absence. He has a middling 32% route rate and just three receptions on the season. However, his quiet beginning to 2026 makes him a strong tournament flex play. Parkinson saw the third most targets on the Rams last season and caught eight touchdown passes. Meanwhile, Tyler Higbee is in the Terrance Ferguson pass-catching tight end role while Ferguson is out with an ankle injury. Higbee had a 74.1% route rate last week and has seen 17 targets over the Rams' past two games.
Blake Corum - Large Field Flex
Blake Corum has seen just seven targets, compared with Kyren Williams' 25. Corum will have to get home in the ground game, which is certainly possible. This is a good matchup for the Rams' rushing offense against a Bills defense that ranks just 24th in Rush EPA Allowed.
