Top 10 FanDuel DFS Plays for NFL Week 5

Week 5 has one game the whole field wants and a few quiet spots the field is mostly ignoring. Lions at Cardinals carries the highest total on the main slate at 54.5, with Detroit favored by 5.5, and ownership is piling up around it. Houston at Tennessee, Denver at the Chargers and Chicago at Green Bay sit in the low to mid 40s or lower, and that is where a lot of the leverage lives. Below are 10 plays worth building around, broken down by position with the reasoning behind each one.

Quarterback

Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals, $6,800 (vs. Detroit)

Brissett is going to be the most popular quarterback on the slate, and the setup explains why. Arizona is a 5.5 point underdog in a 54.5 point game, which points to a lot of passing, and the worst fantasy finish Detroit has allowed to a quarterback this season is QB7. He also has Trey McBride and Michael Wilson to throw to. The catch is that the field knows all of this. In a GPP, you likely will want to consider fading him simply because of how high the roster percentage will be this week, but in a cash game he's essential to building a competitive lineup and will likely be 60%+ rostered on FanDuel.

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions $8,100 (at Arizona)

If you want the same game environment with less crowd, Goff is the cleaner version. The simulations project him higher than Brissett at roughly 14 percent ownership against roughly 19, and he sits on the side of the game that is favored. Detroit's offense runs through Gibbs and St. Brown, which gives Goff touchdown equity in both directions, and a game this high scoring should keep him throwing even if the Lions get ahead. He is the stronger quarterback play in this matchup, and the lower ownership is a bonus.

Running Back

D'Andre Swift, Chicago Bears $6,500 (at Green Bay)

Swift is the leverage play in this group. The Bears are 3 point road favorites in a 45.5 point game, and his ownership projects around 6 percent in the early window and closer to 1.5 percent on the full main slate, which is about as low as it gets for a lead back on a favored team. Swift is on the injury report with a hip and knee issue, but he was limited Thursday, which suggests he is on track to play. The wrinkle is the quarterback. Caleb Williams is listed out, so Tyson Bagent is expected to start, and that is part of why the field is staying away. If Swift is active, this is one of the cheapest ways to get exposure to a Bears offense almost nobody is rostering.

Aaron Jones Sr., Minnesota Vikings $6,200 (at New Orleans)

Jones is the most reliable piece of a Minnesota offense that has struggled to move the ball. The Vikings rank second to last in the league in yards per game at 262.8, and they scored only field goals in last week's 15-10 win over Miami. In an offense like that, the player with a locked in role is the one worth paying for, and with Jordan Mason on injured reserve, Jones is that player. He was limited Wednesday only for rest, returned to full practice Thursday, and has no injury designation for Sunday. The one thing to watch is ownership. He projects above 30 percent in the early window, so he is popular, but the workload backs it up.

Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions, $10,000 (at Arizona)
