Welcome to another season of IDP Dynasty Sleepers! This article highlights a handful of linebackers, defensive linemen, and defensive backs who might be available in your dynasty leagues. I sample my own 12-, 14-, and 16-team leagues to get a cross-section of players who could be free agents in your leagues. Let's take a look at this week's suggestions.
Dynasty Sleeper Linebackers
Jaden Dugger, San Francisco
Dugger was just a fifth-round selection in this past draft, but he quickly gained the attention of the Niners' staff. He's slated to back up the returning Dre Greenlaw at weakside, according to many depth charts, but he got 56% of the snaps in Australia compared to Greenlaw's 66%. Both Greenlaw and the amazing Fred Warner are 29 years old entering the season, so they may have only a year or two left before they hit the wall. Dugger fits the mold of a Niners' linebacker, and we all know that this defense can support two linebackers in terms of fantasy. If he's on your league's free agent list and you have some room on your taxi squad, he's a nice add here after Week 1.
Jack Gibbens, Arizona
Cody Simon was slated to man the weakside linebacker spot for the Cardinals as recently as the end of preseason, but it was the 27-year-old Gibbens who got the snaps there in Week 1. He came through with seven total tackles (five solo) and a half-sack. Gibbens has bounced around but has always been a valuable asset to his team's defense. He could easily become a cheap source of tackles.
Namdi Obiazor, New England
The TCU rookie had a pretty good combine and camp. He's stuck behind the fairly average Christian Elliss at one of the inside linebacker spots for the Pats, but he did manage three combined tackles in some action in his first real NFL game. He's got a good physical profile (6'3", 230 lbs.) that fits what the Patriots like in their linebackers. This is one to keep on your radar in smaller formats, but definitely worth an immediate add in larger leagues.
